If you don't
feel satisfied
COMPLAINTS HANDLING REGULATION OF THE NETHERLANDS ORGANIZATION OF MIDWIVES.
1. DISCUSS THE COMPLAINT WITH YOUR MIDWIFE
It is important that you feel comfortable with your midwife. After all, being pregnant is exciting enough. That’s why we do everything we can to give you and your baby proper guidance. Do you have questions? With doubts? Are you not satisfied about something? Then tell us. Preferably as soon as possible, but even if you’ve been walking around with it for a while. Then we talk about it together and try to do something about it quickly. Perhaps we can clear up a misunderstanding. Or reassure you. Or work in a matter that makes you feel more secure.
We would like to make a separate appointment to discuss this. Then we will have quiet time to talk. If you find it difficult to have the conversation, you can bring someone you trust with you to this conversation.
2. ENGAGE A COMPLAINTS OFFICER
Do you want to know more about your rights or want advice, would you like to discuss your complaint with someone else first, or would you like someone to help you file a complaint?
If so, please contact the complaints officer.
Complaint officers are impartial. They discuss with you what you are dissatisfied with and what you would like to achieve with your complaint. They advise what you can do. They also help you have the conversation with us if you find it difficult. Or to write a letter about the complaint. The complaints officer can help you and us find a solution together. Everything you tell the complaint officer is confidential.
Contact with the complaints officer:
Your midwife is affiliated with the CBKZ (Central Bureau for Complaint Management in Health Care). The CBKZ external complaints officer can be reached by phone from Monday to Friday (from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:30) at 088 – 0245123. You can also send an e-mail to klachtverloskunde@cbkz.nl.
The complaints officer will try to resolve your complaint within six weeks. Within this period you will receive from us what we have done with your complaint.
3. FILE A DISPUTE WITH THE OBSTETRICS DISPUTE BODY
If you are unable to come to an agreement with the midwife and the mediation of the complaints officer, you can submit your complaint to the Midwifery Disputes Authority. This independent body investigates and assesses whether the complaint has merit. It makes a binding ruling on this matter. The Geschilleninstantie Verloskunde can award damages up to a maximum of €25,000.
